Irrigation Installation Experts

Irrigation installation is putting in a complete automatic sprinkler system from scratch: a tap off your water supply, a backflow preventer, valves in accessible boxes, mainline and lateral piping pulled through the yard, heads laid out for head-to-head coverage, and a controller wired up and programmed. C Tetrault Landscaping designs the zones around what your property actually has, so lawn areas run separately from shrub beds, sunny slopes run separately from shaded low ground, and no single zone asks for more water than your supply can deliver. Sprinkler system installation done well is invisible when it's finished. You should be seeing an even green lawn and a few pop-ups, not a yard full of exposed hardware.

The best time for irrigation installation is spring through early fall, any stretch when the ground isn't frozen and we can pull pipe cleanly. Most people call because they've gotten tired of dragging hoses and moving oscillating sprinklers around, or because they just put in new sod or a renovated lawn and don't want to lose the investment to a dry August. Other triggers: a lawn that browns out in the same spots every summer, a property big enough that hand watering takes an hour, a homeowner traveling for weeks at a time, or a town moving to odd/even watering days where an automatic timer is the only realistic way to comply. New construction and full landscape redos are the easiest time to install a system, because the yard is already disturbed.

Before an installation we need to know your water source and pressure, since a well and a town line behave very differently and the design depends on gallons per minute. We'll locate the utilities, check what your town requires for permitting and backflow testing, and mark out the zones with you so you know where the heads will land. Plan on the yard looking rough for a few days: the pipe pulling leaves narrow slits in the turf that close up within two or three weeks, and any trenched areas get raked and seeded. You'll need an outdoor water tap or basement access for the tie-in, and power near the controller location. When the system is running we'll walk every zone with you, show you how to adjust run times, and explain the winterization schedule so you know what has to happen each fall.
