They call Newton the Garden City for a reason, and homeowners here take that seriously. Across the villages, from Newton Centre and Waban to Auburndale and Nonantum, the lots are bigger than what you find closer to the city and the landscapes are established, sometimes a century old. That creates a specific set of problems. Mature specimen trees mean root competition and deep shade in yards that were sunny when the grass went in. The land rolls, so half of Newton is on some kind of slope, and slopes shed water instead of soaking it up, which is why the crown of the hill browns out in July while the bottom of the yard stays soggy. Newton's soil is mostly heavy and clay-based under the topsoil, so it compacts hard and drains slowly. And a lot of Newton properties have irrigation systems that were installed for a landscape that no longer exists, watering beds that were removed and missing the lawn that replaced them.

Most of our Newton work falls into two buckets. The first is irrigation: designing and installing new sprinkler systems that zone the sunny slope separately from the shaded low ground, plus spring startups, fall blowouts, and repairs on the older systems all over Newton that have been limping along for years. The second is putting lawns back together. That means sod installation on Newton properties where the grass is past the point of repair and the homeowner wants a finished yard now, and lawn renovation with dethatching, core aeration and slice seeding for lawns that are thin but still have good bones. Aeration matters more in Newton than most towns because of that clay. We also handle weekly lawn mowing, mulching with a cut edge on the bed lines, and lawn repair for grub damage, which hits Newton lawns hard in late summer.

Newton homeowners generally know what good work looks like and have usually been through a couple of companies to find it. What C Tetrault Landscaping brings is that irrigation and sod are our specialties rather than add-ons, so a new lawn and the system that keeps it alive get designed together instead of by two crews who never talk. Chuck started the company in 2020, he walks every Newton property himself, and he'll tell you when a renovation will get you 90% of the result for a third of the cost of sod. Veterans get 10% off any job. For an estimate on your Newton property, call (857) 767-6698 and we'll set up a time to walk the yard with you.
