Natick is a family town and the lawns get used like it. Between the neighborhoods off Route 135, the streets around Lake Cochituate, and the subdivisions on the north side, most of the yards we see in Natick have kids, dogs, a trampoline that's been sitting in the same spot since May, and a well-worn base path to the back fence. That's a different kind of lawn problem than shade or drainage. It's wear, and it's concentrated. Soil in Natick varies a lot depending on where you are, sandier and faster-draining in the neighborhoods near the lake and heavier and more clay-bound further from it, which means two houses a mile apart can need completely different watering schedules. The other Natick pattern we see constantly is the yard that gets dug up for a project, a pool, an addition, a new patio, and then gets left as a mud pit because nobody wanted to deal with the grass.
